West Jordan police mourn death of recently retired, highly decorated K9 officer<\/p>\n
K9 Officer Duke answered more than 1,100 recorded deployments in a 7 year period before he retired last year. West Jordan Police Department said their former pup passed away on Friday night. Officers that worked with Duke celebrated his accomplishments and service. Duke won many national awards and was considered to be a top tier K9 officer in the U.S., WJPD wrote on Facebook. They say Duke specialized in large drug bust, apprehending dangerous fugitives, and protecting the lives of other officers on the force. Duke’s handler, Officer Smith, was also recognized for his dedicated training to help Duke become the best he could be.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
