\nHandler – Officer Tim Lechlitner<\/p>\n
Last week we lost one of our own. K9 Nitro and his handler Officer Tim Lechlitner worked together for eight years. During his service, K9 Nitro was trained in narcotics, tobacco, and synthetic marijuana detection. Most recently, visitors at the jail may have seen K9 Nitro, where he searched persons entering the jail and prevented substances from entering the jail. \u201cNitro served Elkhart County Sheriff\u2019s Office proudly and was always excited to go to work. He loved his tennis ball and had it in his mouth until his last breath,\u201d shares his partner of 8 years, Officer Tim Lechlitner.
