Urbana PD mourns loss of K9 officer<\/p>\n

It is with a heavy heart the Urbana Police Department had to say goodbye to one of their own Thursday. Mike Cervantes, a Sergeant and previous K9 handler, took his retired partner Hunter on one last squad car ride. Hunter, a black lab that was trained in narcotics detection, tracking, and article searches, served as an officer from 2008-2017. Hunter\u2019s career was split between two handlers: Sgt. Jay Loschen 2008-2012 and Sgt. Mike Cervantes 2012-2017. Hunter enjoyed his well-deserved retirement with the Cervantes family. Please keep the Loschen and Cervantes families in your prayers, as well as the rest of the Urbana police family while they find peace during this sad time.
