Retired Lubbock Police K9 Riki passes away from unexpected illness<\/p>\n
A four legged member of Lubbock\u2019s finest passed away Tuesday night. Riki, a longtime narcotics dog with the Lubbock police Department died from an unexpected illness. Riki retired last July after four years of service in drug seizures and patrol arrests. He went home with his handler, Corporal Brock Gruner who says he couldn\u2019t have asked for a better partner. In a statement on the Lubbock Police Department Facebook page, Corporal Gruner talked about his pet and friend. \u201cHe loved what he did and was always ready to go assist in apprehending the suspect. No matter what we were doing, he was always 100% committed to doing his job and never hesitated when I asked him to do something. In my opinion, he was the best partner for me to have as new canine handler,\u201d Gruner said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
