Williams Bay police dog dies unexpectedly at age five<\/p>\n

Rex the police dog is dead. Village officials today announced that Williams Bay’s police dog, Rex, has died unexpected at just five years of age. Rex was a German shepherd that had been with police Lt. Justin Timm, his owner and handler, for four years. A trained drug-sniffing dog, Rex reported for duty with the Williams Bay Police Department in June 2018. A friendly dog, Rex appeared at a number of community events where he met and made friends with residents. According to an announcement today from the village, Rex was rushed Jan. 11 to an emergency veterinary clinic due to an acute medical problem. Doctors attempted surgery for a ruptured mass near the animal’s spleen, which was causing internal bleeding. Rex was unable to survive the surgical procedure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
