Retired police K9 mourned in Saratoga County<\/p>\n

A retired K9 with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office has died.K9 Jack recently passed away at 14 years of age. The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office says K9 Jack served the residents of Saratoga County for many years with his partner, Sgt. Andy Kelley. K9 Jack retired from duty when he was 11. He was trained in handler protection, tracking and drug detection and was well-known at community events. The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office says K9 Jack remained with Sgt. Kelley and his family in Corinth after retiring. In a Facebook post, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office wrote K9 Jack “was not only a partner but a member of their family”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

Board of Directors, he helped to draft Connecticut Statute 53-247(e) \\\"Intentional Injury or Killing of Police K-9\\\" which was passed by the Senate in 1993 and also assisted in implementing the prestigious Daniel Wasson Memorial K-9 Award in 1992. In 1993 he helped coordinate the North American Police Work Dog Association Nationals in New London, Connecticut. He was appointed Training Director for the New London County Work Dog Association from 1985-1987.
