Lake County Sheriff\u2019s Office mourning loss of retired K-9 bomb sniffer<\/p>\n
The Lake County Sheriff\u2019s Office is mourning the death of a retired K-9 dog. Cooper, who died May 4, worked alongside Master Dep. Judi Bowlin for 10 years in the school resource unit and on the Hazardous Devices Team, where he served in a bomb-detection role. Cooper was a well-decorated member of the sheriff\u2019s office, having won first place in every division at the U.S. Police Canine Association competition. He and Bowlin also won numerous other awards together. The duo also provided assistance to the Volusia County Sheriff\u2019s Office for many years while working at the Daytona 500 in an effort to keep NASCAR fans safe during the annual event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
