Calgary police dog Cisko dies due to medical condition<\/p>\n

Calgary police announced the death Monday of canine unit member Cisko. The police service dog died at home due to a medical condition, the service said in a statement posted on social media. Cisko was born in the Czech Republic and started his training with the Calgary police in the summer of 2012, certifying in just four months alongside his handler. Police say the German shepherd \u201cloved and excelled in his role\u201d as a police service dog. \u201cCisko, who was seven years old, will always be remembered for his intensity, free spirit, and mischievous personality,\u201d the service said. \u201cHe remained diligent and served the members of the Service and the citizens of Calgary throughout each and every shift and was loyal to the end. PSD Cisko will be greatly missed.\u201d According to his profile in the 2018 Calgary Police Foundation Canine Heroes calendar, Cisko was a \u201cgood all-around athlete\u201d and liked being around kids. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
