The sheriff’s office says the dog was in the department’s K-9 vehicle when a malfunction caused the vehicle’s temperature to rise to an unsafe level. K-9 Doki was rushed to a veterinary hospital, however later died due to heat exhaustion. Doki was a 2 year old Belgium Malinois. The Jasper County Sheriff\u2019s Office asks for prayers for the handler of K-9 Doki and the department during this time of loss. \u201cIt\u2019s an unfortunate thing that happened. We had a malfunction and all we can do is learn from it,\u201d said Sheriff Chris Malphrus. \u201cWe are trying to be as transparent as we can to make the public aware of what\u2019s going on.
