Jasper County Mourns K9 Tundra<\/p>\n
K9 Tundra, a 5 year-old Weimaraner, who faithfully served the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 due a large tumor that grew in her esophagus and stomach. The tumor was discovered during a recent exam after K9 Tundra had lost a significant amount of weight. The tumor would not have allowed her to have a good quality of life. K9 Tundra had trained with the best of the best over the last several years, including trainers from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Marshals and the ATF. She also trained with various local and state agencies. K9 Tundra was trained in explosive detection, as well as trailing people and searching for evidentiary items. K9 Tundra, was partnered with Cpl. Matt Smith for the past 3 years and was very protective. She was not only Cpl. Smith’s partner, but she was his friend and family. K9 Tundra will be greatly missed by her department, family, and all who knew her. Her dedication to law enforcement and service to her community will never be forgotten.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
