Garfield County Sheriff’s Office announces the passing of Retired K-9 Lux <\/p>\n
Garfield County Sheriff’s Office lost retired K-9 Officer Lux on Saturday. “Garfield County Sheriff’s Department regrets to announce the passing of retired K-9 Lux, today at 1000 hours,” Sheriff Jerry Niles said. “K-9 Lux took a final ride in a Garfield County Sheriff’s Department patrol car. K-9 Lux was surrounded my his family, friends and members of the GCSO K-9 Unit. Those in attendance said their goodbyes and thanked Lux for his service, companionship, and ever watchful eyes.” K-9 Lux started his law enforcement career with the Norman Police Department, serving from 2006 to 2012. Lux was assigned to Sgt. Darin Morgan and during this time with Morgan he was responsible for seizing more than $1 million dollars, hundreds of pounds of narcotics and was selected at K-9 of the Year for the State of Oklahoma in 2010-2011. After working a the Norman Police Department, K-9 Lux went to work for the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department and was assigned to Deputy Darryl Beebe as a Patrol\/Narcotics team. Lux worked for the Garfield County Sheriffs department from 2013-2014 before retiring. He lived the rest of his life out with the Beebe family. “When the term police canine is mentioned, many people think of the invaluable crime fighting and public relations a service canine provides to the law enforcement organization and the citizens they serve, but forget the humanistic significance of the police canine,” Niles said. “K-9 Lux was a valued member of the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department family. Please keep the Beebe Family and K-9 Lux in your thoughts during this difficult time. “K-9 Lux, we salute you and thank you for your dedicated service.
