Three-legged police drug dog loses fight with cancer<\/p>\n
A Brown County Drug Task Force dog believed to be the only three-legged drug-fighting dog in the country passed away after his cancer returned. Marley worked with the Brown County Drug Task Force for almost two years, trained to detect narcotics on people and in homes and cars. His right rear leg was amputated earlier this year after doctors discovered cancer, after his partner noticed Marley was running with a limp. His handler said that didn\u2019t appear to slow Marley down at all, but they kept a much closer eye on his health after that, and found out the cancer returned. The Brown County Sheriff\u2019s Office issued a statement Monday morning reading in part:In his short career he was instrumental in taking a lot of drugs off the street, helping to ensure the safety of the community, asking for nothing more than a little play time with his tennis ball as a reward. K9 Marley passed peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
