Police issue heartfelt tribute as ‘loyal’ police dog dies<\/p>\n

Avon and Somerset Police have announced the passing of an \u201cincredible\u201d police dog this morning (March 25). The police force released a heartfelt tribute to PD Fred, who it said will be remembered for his \u201cdedicated service to our communities\u201d. \u201cWith a heavy heart, we are announcing the passing of PD Fred,\u201d Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement. \u201cAn incredible explosive search dog, Fred got to experience many different events throughout his long career. \u201cHe was deployed to Northern Ireland, served at both the Commonwealth and Olympic Games, and had the honor of searching Westminster Abbey on the evening of Her Majesty’s funeral.\u201d The police said that Fred and his handler, Sergeant Dalrymple, were constant supporters of the WAGs charity that aid police dogs across Avon and Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. Together they raised money for the charity by completing the Three Peaks, including Ben Nevis, as well as abseiling down Avon and Somerset Police\u2019s comms tower at Headquarters with TV presenter Alex Lovell.
