New Hampshire State Police Mourn the Passing of K-9 Wyatt<\/p>\n
The New Hampshire State Police Canine Unit has announced the passing of K-9 Wyatt, a Plott Hound who served for ten years alongside Trooper First Class Kevin Devlin in search and rescue operations and human remains detection.Wyatt and Trooper Devlin began their partnership on March 2, 2015, when Wyatt was just eight weeks old. Through fifteen weeks of intense training, Wyatt became an elite search and rescue K-9, earning certification from the New England State Police Administrators Conference. By just six months old, he had already begun assisting with missing persons cases, and by ten months, he became the youngest certified police canine in New Hampshire State Police history trained in both search and rescue and human remains detection.
\nOver the course of ten years, Wyatt and Trooper Devlin responded to more than 500 calls across New Hampshire and New England, assisting with some of the region\u2019s most high-profile cases. Their efforts were instrumental in:
\n\u2022\tLocating missing persons and reuniting families.
\n\u2022\tProviding closure to families of lost loved ones.
\n\u2022\tAiding in criminal investigations, leading to successful prosecutions of violent offenders.
\nOn March 18, 2025, at ten years old, K-9 Wyatt passed away, surrounded by Trooper Devlin, his family, and his State Police colleagues. Wyatt had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer that had spread throughout his chest and lungs. The staff at Port City Veterinary Hospital in Portsmouth provided care and compassion during his final moments. After his passing, Wyatt was escorted with honors to his final resting place.\u201cK-9 Wyatt was a cherished member of the New Hampshire State Police family, an essential part of the Canine Unit,\u201d said Colonel Mark B. Hall. \u201cToday we mourn his passing and remember his years of exemplary service. Trooper First Class Devlin and K-9 Wyatt were instrumental in bringing closure to families throughout New Hampshire and beyond.
