The Calvert County Sheriff\u2019s Office (CCSO) is mourning the loss of one of its police dogs.K-9 Maximus served on the force from 2015 to 2021 as a CDS Detection Dog before retiring.\u201cMaximus, a dedicated Belgian Malinois, faithfully protected our citizens, community, and deputies with unwavering courage and without hesitation,\u201d the sheriff\u2019s office shared in a news release.He spent his final moments with his handler and his \u201cloving family.\u201d\u201cA testament to the deep bond shared between a K9 and his handler\u2014one that is truly inseparable,\u201d CCSO stated.CCSO said Maximus\u2019 service and sacrifice will always be remembered.\u201cRest easy, our protector.
