Wichita Police K-9 dies after short battle with cancer<\/p>\n

The Wichita Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its K9 officers, Sol.The police department said after feeling unwell, Sol was taken to the vet where tests revealed multiple tumors. He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, which spread rapidly.\u201cDespite a brave fight and the best efforts of his medical team, surrounded by his partner Sol was put to sleep,\u201d said WPD. \u201cK9 Sol served our community with dedication and courage.\u201dSol started with the Wichita Police Department in 2019. Since then, he has been deployed on 375 drug sniffs that resulted in finding:
\n\u2022\t430 pounds of marijuana and THC products
\n\u2022\t225 pounds of methamphetamine
\n\u2022\t20 pounds of cocaine
\n\u2022\t1 pound of heroin
\n\u2022\t32 pounds of fentanyl (combined powder and pills)
\n\u2022\t$450, 000 of Illicit currency

He was appointed Training Director for the New London County Work Dog Association from 1985-1987.
