Nelson Sheriff’s Office K-9 dies after diagnosed with aggressive cancer<\/p>\n
The Nelson County Sheriff\u2019s Office is mourning the passing of one of its K-9s.The sheriff\u2019s office reports that K-9 Gingo was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer last week and passed on Monday afternoon with his handler by his side.Gingo had only joined the Nelson County Sheriff\u2019s Office in January though he had spent five years deployed overseas with the U.S. military.He was certified as an explosive detection canine through the North American Police Work Dog Association.In his short time in Nelson County, Gingo was part of a program Sheriff Mark Embrey designed to help keep the county\u2019s government buildings and Nelson County Public Schools safe.The sheriff\u2019s office thanks Lovingston Veterinary Hospital for the care it provided Gingo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
