Sarasota Police Department mourned the unexpected loss of retired Sarasota Police K-9 Bronson on Wednesday, who served with Officer Jacob Nelson from 2014 to 2021.The Sarasota Police Department family gathered outside headquarters Wednesday afternoon for a final farewell.Watch the tribute here.K-9 Bronson retired in November 2021. During his career, he was deployed 450 times, participating in community demos and aiding in numerous cases, including homicides, attempted murders, aggravated assaults, kidnappings, and sexual batteries. He also worked with SWAT, the U.S. Marshals, and provided mutual aid with the Manatee and Sarasota County Sheriff\u2019s Offices.In 2018, K-9 Bronson won First Place at the Gulf Coast Police K-9 Competition and received a Meritorious Service Award from the U.S. Marshals and a Commission Recognition from the City of Sarasota.Thank you for your service and dedication, K-9 Bronson.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
