Sadness as Wiltshire Police dog ‘feared by criminals’ dies<\/p>\n
PD Max died aged nearly 13 having retired from Wiltshire Police in 2019.The news was shared on Wiltshire Police Dogs\u2019 X account, saying: \u201cSome sad news, retired PD Max has passed away, at nearly 13. \u201cHe was a fantastic police dog, feared equally by criminals and the training staff! Rest easy big man.\u201dOne person responded: \u201cSo sorry to hear this RIP Max thank you for all your service.\u201dAnother called him a \u201cwarrior among doggos\u201d, wishing he would \u201csleep well.\u201dWhen he retired, his handler, PC Tracy Doughty, told the Salisbury Journal: \u201cMax has a very strong presence.”He has been challenging to work with but he’s a big softy really, and I\u2019ll miss his \u2018verbal opinion\u2019.”He will remain living with me, and he is already loving being inside on the sofa.”He\u2019s looked after me, so it\u2019s up to me now to do the same for him.\u201dIt was reported that one of Max\u2019s proudest moments was locating offenders involved in a series of burglaries in Swindon.He also received two awards where Max\u2019s skills were pivotal to locating a suspect.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
