Retired K-9 Vader from Baker County has passed
\n Sheriff Scotty Rhoden announced some sad news on Wednesday.Retired K-9 Vader, who \u201cfaithfully and admirably\u201d served in the department has passed away.Vader began his career in 2017 and retired in 2022.
\nHis resume includes:
\n\u2022\t100 deployments
\n\u2022\t60 criminal finds
\n\u2022\t6 bite apprehensions
\nVader didn\u2019t just fight crime. He was an important member of the community.\u201cHe participated in many public K-9 demonstrations to help educate the community and school-aged children about the invaluable contributions of the Sheriff\u2019s Office K-9 program,\u201d Sheriff Rhoden said in a post on the department\u2019s Facebook account.After retirement, Vader remained with his handler, Deputy Mitchell Wight, and his family.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

In 1993 he helped coordinate the North American Police Work Dog Association Nationals in New London, Connecticut. He was appointed Training Director for the New London County Work Dog Association from 1985-1987.
