Retired K-9 Niko dies<\/p>\n

Niko, who served on the Hemet Police Department K-9 unit from 2009-2014, died early Tuesday, April 26. Niko died at the home of Patrick Long, a retired Hemet police officer who was his handler. Long and Niko were awarded \u201cTop Dog\u201d at the Riverside County Sheriff\u2019s Department K-9 trials in 2011.
