Greenwood Police announce passing of retired K9 officer<\/p>\n
It is with a profound sadness that we announce that one of our own. K-9 Cindy, has passed away.K-9 Cindy was a purebred black German Shepherd. She was born in the Netherlands on July 18, 2008. K-9 Cindy began her career with Greenwood Police Department in February of 2010 after receiving extensive training in narcotics detection and person\/article location. K-9 Cindy was partnered with then Lieutenant Jason Budreau. In addition to assisting the police department with locating narcotics, firearms, and people, she also LOVED going to schools and meeting kids. She was always up for a good scratching behind the ears!K-9 Cindy retired because of health reasons on October 21, 2019, which we reported here on our social media. After retiring, K-9 Cindy lived with her handler’s family until her passing on Friday, March 17, 2023. The loss of a k-9 partner is like losing a member of your family; our sincerest condolences go out to the Budreau family. K-9 Cindy; rest easy, girl.
