Rabun County Sheriff\u2019s Office mourns passing of K9 \u2018Bo\u2019<\/p>\n
The Rabun County Sheriff\u2019s Office is mourning the loss of a K9 well-known to local students. \u201cBo\u201d passed away on Monday, January 16. The sheriff\u2019s office shared the sad news on its Facebook page Tuesday.\u201cIt is with great sadness, that we announce the unexpected passing of K9 \u2018Bo\u2019,\u201d the post reads. \u201cThis is a difficult time for his owner\/handler Deputy Mckinney.\u201dIn May 2021, Bo was publicly praised by the Georgia Police K9 Foundation for locating a missing juvenile. Later that same year, in November, Bo made headlines again when he alerted his handler to the presence of drugs during a traffic stop on GA 15\/US 441. Two alleged drug dealers were arrested as a result. For all his varied assignments, perhaps Bo\u2019s favorite job was working with his handler in his role as School Resource Officer. \u201cThey were a great team who loved working at Rabun County Middle School,\u201d the post says. The sheriff\u2019s office did not reveal how Bo died. The agency is asking the community to keep Deputy McKinney in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
