Police K9 killed, suspect shot near El Capitan, Iron Mountain<\/p>\n
A LVMPD police dog has been shot and killed during a Metro Investigation Thursday morning about 12:09 near El Capitan Way and Iron Mountain Road . K-9 Nicky, with the Metro Police Department. had just returned to duty after being stabbed multiple times in the face during a 12-hour standoff near Desert Inn and Maryland Parkway in February. K-9 Nicky was working with another officer to take down a suspect in the northwest part of the valley when he was shot. The shooting happened near Black Elk Avenue and N. Fast Elk St. Metro said the suspect was also shot. No word on how K-9 Nicky was shot. There weren’t any other details were released. This is the fourth officer-involved shooting in Metro’s jurisdiction this year. The suspect has also been shot but condition is not known.
