It is with heavy hearts that the Pittsburgh Police K9 Unit announces the passing of K-9 Gerix (retired). Gerix was a Narcotics Detection K-9 who began his service with the K9 Unit in January of 2012 and retired from service in January of 2019. K9 Gerix spent these last couple of years enjoying retirement at home with his K9 handler Officer Thomas Lockard and his family. RIP Gerix.
