Appleton Police K-9 officer dies<\/p>\n

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved active duty K9 Waskos. On 06.04.2021, K9 Waskos passed away from an acute medical condition. Waskos was energetic, focused, and talented. This is a devastating loss to the Appleton Department and his handler Sergeant Rohm. Waskos started in February of 2015 and during his service, he apprehended countless criminals, served our community day to day working in our patrol division. During his time he assisted specialized units, our SWAT team, and numerous other agencies to keep our community safe. He will be remembered for his amazing personality, his love for the work he did, and as a true protector of our community. Waskos loved to come to work and was truly happy when he was working and training with Sergeant Rohm. Waskos never declined a moment to be showcased on social media and was always ready to help with a K9 demonstration. While we mourn the loss of K9 Waskos, we want to thank our community for the continued support you have shown our K9 program. Thank you to Countryside Veterinary Services for taking care of Waskos for the past six years.
