Village mourns loss of K9
The Waynesfield Police Department has lost one of its own. K9 Yukon passed away on Friday after battling a sudden illness. Yukon was suffering from either a tumor pressing up against the spinal cord or a ruptured disk, Police Chief Nathan Motter said. With the cost factor along with the fact that Yukon would have been paralyzed and would’ve been in pain, council decided at a special meeting Friday to put Yukon down. A memorial service will be held for Yukon at a later date. According to Motter, after Yukon was euthanized his body was going to be cremated and once they receive the remains, they will have a better idea of when the service will be held. Motter anticipates it being on a Saturday and it will be held at Legacy Park.
