After a valiant fight, keeping his chin up the entire time and Kong not far from reach, MWD Yago N289 (PDDD) was comfortably released from his failing body. The fight is over. MWD Yago (N289) has passed over the Rainbow Bridge. He was humanely euthanized this morning. He was so very very happy to be home, but he was not tolerating any food through the feeding tube, and he stopped drinking water near midnight. The fluid was causing swelling in his face this morning, and he was becoming more lethargic. He got to go play out in a beautiful green grass field this morning, and his favorite ball was with him. He spent his last night curled up with me in bed, very much loved. We loved him so very much. He was always happy, loved everyone, and just all about play time. I feel like my heart has been ripped out of my chest, to not have been able to help him through this. Kidney failure was far too much for him to overcome. To lose such a young and, up until 3 weeks ago, healthy dog is devastating. He was with us only 10 months, yet I don’t know that a full lifetime would have been enough. He felt like he had been part of the family since I could remember. I am so sorry to his past handlers for their loss. Thank you again everyone for the prayers and support you have given us both through the last couple weeks as he tried to fight back. We also wanted to thank everyone who donated to Mission K9 Rescue or directly to the vet clinic to allow us the opportunity to give Yago every hope of overcoming this. It means so very much to know everything that could have been done to save him was done.
