Handler – Officer Matt Williams
K9 Turco was a previous member of the Prescott Valley Police Department. K9 Turco died peacefully in the home of his former handler, Officer Matt Williams. Notable achievements in K9 Turco’s career include locating quantities of marijuana, methamphetamines, cocaine, and heroin, along with hundreds of pieces of drug paraphernalia. But he especially excelled at tracking, once safely locating an autistic child who had wandered away in freezing December weather. K9 Turco’s passing leaves a big gap in the PVPD family, the Williams family, and particularly Officer Williams himself. “There are a lot of emotions,” Officer Williams said. “K9s really are different than any other type of dog. I spent more time with him than with my family when we were partners. It’s a very special bond, more than a normal family dog, especially when he had my back for years. He gave me a sense of safety on the job.”
