K9 Rocco – Deptord, New Jersey

Died 9/10/16
Handler – Officer Mike Divito

The GCPK9A is sad to announce the passing of Retired Patrol / Narcotics Detection Canine Rocco handled by Officer Mike Divito of the Deptord Twp. Police Department. Mike and Rocco were graduates of the Philadelphia Police K-9 Academy and proudly served the residents of Depford Township for many years. Rocco was affectionately known as a hard biting hammer of a little shep mal mix. He was honored by Deptford Township on his retirement February 2, 2015 and lived his remaiining years protecting Mike and his family. Recently Rocco’s health had taken a turn and sadly, he crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday with Mike and his family at his side at the St. Frances Veterinary Hospital. Please keep Mike and his family in your thoughts and prayers. It’s always tough to lose a pet, but as we know as cops, when it is something that you rely on to protect you and your brothers and sisters you work with….it seems to hurt a little more. Rest in Peace K9 Rocco and t hank you for your service~
