Sperry police escort fallen K9
The PD was asked to assist escorting a K9 that died from health complications. Ziva Adams from Coffeyville, KS was laid to rest after she passed away at the OSU Veterinary Hospital in Stillwater. The four year old German Shepherd had been with the Coffeyville Police Department since April 2015. Officer Dusty Adams, Ziva’s handler, reports she was under the care of a veterinarian. “We thought there was some improvement, however, the veterinarian called to say she had passed away at 7:20 this morning.” Ziva will be buried in the pet section at Restlawn Cemetery where former K9’s Arno and Arco are also buried. Coffeyville Police Chief Kwin Bromley expressed condolences from the Police Department. “This is a very difficult time for Officer Adams and his family as Ziva was not only his working partner, but a member of his family,” said Bromley. “All of us at CPD have Dusty and his family in our thoughts and prayers. Ziva will certainly be missed.” Several agencies escorted Ziva back to Coffeyville to her final resting place including the Sperry Police Department. “It was an honor and a true privilege to assist in escorting her to her final resting place,” said Sperry Police Chief Justin Burch.
