Beavercreek police mourn K9 Dunga

The Beavercreek Police Department regretfully announces the passing of former K9 Djunga “DJ”. His partner/handler, was Officer Chris Williams. Our thoughts go out to he and his family as he grieves the loss of his partner.DJ was born in Holland and began his training there to become a dual purpose working dog. He was imported to Storm Dog K9 Training Center in Delaware, Oh to complete his pre training and purchased by the Beavercreek Police Department in July 2007. Officer Chris Williams began training with DJ in July and they certified with the State of Ohio in September 2007. From there they began their days on patrol until DJ retired in 2016. 9 years is a long time for a working dog and DJ worked hard right up to his last day on the road. Along the way he made 100’s of friends. His greatest love was to “perform” at demos and to play with the kids that attended. He did great things over the years and was a true asset to the City Of Beavercreek. In 2016 DJ retired and began the good life at home with his best friend Stella, also a Belgian Malinois. Recent health problems slowed DJ down and he still tried to maintain his Warrior mentality but his body wouldn’t let him. DJ will be missed by all of us.
