Worcester Police Announce Passing Of K9 Ace
With deep sadness, we announce the recent passing of Worcester Police K9 Ace. Ace was a loyal partner to Sergeant Joseph Francese since 2018. He was certified in patrol and narcotics detection. Ace was a 5-year-old German Shepherd. He retired earlier this year after being diagnosed with kidney disease.Ace was a smart, driven, and hard working K9.Ace is credited with numerous arrests and assisted with the seizure of large amounts of narcotics over his career. While Ace was successful at his work in the field, he also shined when it came to community policing. He was frequently assigned to patrol the downtown area and became friends with many business owners and city employees. Ace was an ambassador for the WPD where he enjoyed interacting with school children during school presentations and community outreach events. He was frequently requested to make appearances at schools in Worcester because he had a reputation of being a fun loving pup. He attracted a lot of attention when he could “speak” on command. Sgt. Francese’s bond with Ace was like no other. Please keep the Francese family and the K9 Unit in your thoughts and prayers. These pictures are some of our favorite memories. Ace will be dearly missed.
