K9 Chico – Williamson County, Texas

The remains of the police K9 Chico have been found. The Florence Police Department discovered Chico in a ditch covered with debris on FM 970 and SH 195. Officers say it appears that Chico drowned shortly after he escaped from his kennel in the storms at the beginning of March. Sgt. Randy Batten with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said Chico escaped after he pushed open his kennel gate. He was then able to push through a second gate in the backyard. Police identified Chico by his collar. The beloved Dutch Shepherd will be cremated and memorialized in a private service at the Sheriff’s Office.
